Introducing the Home Cooking Assistant, a revolutionary mobile app designed to empower individuals in their home cooking journey. Striving to alleviate common challenges faced by home cooks, this app serves as a go-to solution for recipe inspiration, step-by-step guidance, meal planning, and nutritional information. Problem
Many individuals face challenges in finding convenient and reliable sources for recipe inspiration, cooking guidance, and meal planning, hindering consistent home cooking. These obstacles often lead to a lack of variety and excitement in home-cooked meals.
User Journey Maps
I created three user journey maps tailored to our target users: a Student, a Business Professional, and a Personal Trainer. These maps outline a step-by-step process of how each user interacts with the app, highlighting their specific needs, actions, thoughts, and opportunities for engagement. Each journey is designed to enhance the user experience by addressing their unique challenges and goals, ensuring the app provides value to a diverse audience.
App Flow Diagram
This app flow diagram outlines a user-friendly recipe application designed to simplify meal planning and culinary exploration. The app begins with user login/signup, leading to a home screen with five main features: Recipes, offering categorized options (breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner) with ingredients, instructions, and notifications; Search, for finding recipes or revisiting recent searches; Add Recipe, enabling users to create and share their own dishes; Bookmarks, for saving favorite recipes; and My Profile, where users can manage their account, view personal recipes, and access meal planning tools. The intuitive design ensures an engaging and seamless experience for all users.
Low-Fi Wireframes
These wireframes focused on layout, structure, and functionality without the distraction of visual details. They helped visualize the user experience, map out core features, and quickly iterate on ideas before moving to high-fidelity design. This stage was essential in ensuring the app's usability and intuitive navigation.
Outcome
The high-fidelity wireframes brought the Home Cooking Assistant app to life with a clean, modern interface and visually engaging design. Building on the insights from user journeys and low-fi wireframes, the final designs focused on intuitive navigation, vibrant recipe displays, and accessible features tailored to varied user needs.
The result is a polished, user-centered experience that encourages confident cooking, simplifies meal planning, and supports healthy, enjoyable home cooking for all users.
